groundhogGroundhogs also known as woodchucks or whistling pigs are a rodent of the family sciuridae. They are well adapted for digging causing massive holes in yards or next to foundations.

In the wild, groundhogs can live up to 6 years. Common predators in North Carolina are coyotes, foxes, bobcats, hawks and even dogs.

Breeding season for groundhogs occur during early march to late April. Though not a huge health risk, Groundhogs can be aggressive when felt threatened but otherwise cause damage to turfs or crawlspaces if left alone.
